Airport Troubadour……….just past security
He’s like you and me…….he just wants to see people smile
Some songs mournful, just like this grey afternoon
Others sunshine in a sweet uplifting tune
Folks pretend to not to notice him here, but notice they do
When a passing chord will touch them when they’re quickly rushing
right through
The melody and singer’s soul, will soon rise and fall
As the guitar and vocal bounces off the terminal wall
Newstand, coffee shop, baggage belt
It’s hard to measure just the way I felt when you
Disappeared through the customs door..my heart fell through the floor
It all came back to me, in a song
It’s like I never left you here along the queue
Of travelers waiting to….board a plane to somewhere new
This song’s for me and you
So many flights delayed by weather…..but whether or not
If it’s here you are caught, you’ll be listening for a while
I was once just like him, with a six-string and popular songs
But as the time will pass, it will be time to move it along
Folks pretend to not to notice him here, but notice they do
When a passing chord will touch them when they’re quickly rushing
right through
The melody and singer’s soul, will soon rise and fall
As the guitar and vocal bounces off the terminal wall
This airport troubadour you once knew
Will sing this one just for you

My Train Song
Lyrics and Music by Matthew Marren
Copyright 2008 matthewmarrenmusic
Intro 1:
Verse 1:
So many have their train songs- I guess that this is mine
And like the train you’re waiting for- I hope that it’s on time
Some are minor some major key
Sometimes the latter still seem sad to me
I dream of the wheels and the way it will feel to be taken back home and how
I wake to the rumble out of bed I will tumble the train’s pulling in and now
it’s a quarter to three
Intro 2:
Verse 2:
You can hear the wailing whistle- when the wind becomes easterly
And when you’re a diesel tumbleweed forever there’s a place to be
For every loved one coming home picked up down the line
There’s a lonely lover on a station platform far behind
A journey that’s started and for some broken-hearted
the sound of train is heard
For some it’s tragic and for others it’s magic
Doesn’t matter who waits and listens
and do you know the words
Bridge:
Of the song I sing
About a country that was tied by the winding steel
And the way of life it brings
And the patriots taken from their homes and loved ones
And some returned to sing
The praises- of what the train could bring (Solo on intro):
Verse 3:
The next time you hear the wailing whistle- and the clock says quarter to three
You can think of my train rolling down the rails
From here to the distant sea
And think about the ones who tried
To lay ties and steel through the prairie and mountain
And those who died
I dream of the wheels and the way it will feel to be taken- far and wide
I wake to the rumble out of bed I will tumble
My train’s pulling in and now- it’s time to ride (bridge solo)
